I have been very encouraged by the kind of interest that has been shown regarding our first LPI Training of Trainers. The deadline for applications is today for the East African ToT. Already the caliber of applications is very encouraging and am sure those selected will go on to make an impact in their institutions.

The one thing I want to point out is the new programme by the LPI, the LPi certified Solution Provider Programme: http://lpi.org/eng/about_lpi/what_s_new/lpi_launches_certified_solution_...

This is a very interesting development because we will finally have a way of expressing our professionalism in industry as open source practitioners. With the requirement of attaining a certain of professional expertise like the LPI, the many SMEs offering open source solutions will be able to prove to clients that they are ascribing to a certain code of of professional ethics. This will in turn provide more confidence in open source solutions and the end result will be more business for FOSS practitioners, and better development of our economies ofcourse.

Hallo Mr. Ikua.

I would like to just put my comments that there is a big chance to have FOSS business dowto the business community if more efforts will be directed to SME's doing business(Cooperate companies) who can accommodate graduate and students undertaking field attachment.

just to mention in my company I have one student from the National Institute of Transport who attended the Africa FOSS Business Models,he is now practicing and creating awareness to the business community,we are busy Installing Edu-ubuntu bandles to private schools and to individuals at family level,
