Get ready, get active it's time for Software Freedom Day
Software Freedom Day (SFD) 2009 is approaching - it is time to organise creative actions and events and get ready to celebrate Free and Open Source Software and Technologies on the 19th of September 2009!
Pia Waugh, President of SFI - 2007 describes SFD as "a global celebration and education of why transparent and sustainable technologies are now more important than ever." http://softwarefreedomday.org/SoftwareFreedom
You can join one of the many SFD-groups in existance or create your own actions. So, how do you best get started if you want to engage:
STEP 1: Put Saturday 19 September 2009 in your diary.
STEP 2: Check out the map on the SFD site to see if there's a team in your area.
STEP 2a: If there isn't a team, register your own
STEP 3: Get out on the streets and celebrate software freedom!
ict@innovation will shortly publish more information on what the programme and its supporting organisations are planing on the day. So keep an eye out for further updates here. Should you have questions or ideas connected to ict@innovation and Software Freedom Day please get in touch - otherwise the SFD Website offers contact information to local SFD groups and general support for those starting up their own initiatves!
