The first National Training in Uganda on African Business Models with Free and Open Source Software comes to a glamorous end!

UpNews Pic_small_1.jpgto 35 representatives from Small and Medium ICT Enterprises were passed out on the 25th of August 2010 from an Advanced Training which lasted 4 solid days of intensive learning  at Bugema University in Uganda. Participants were charged with knowledge and skills to go and make business with Free and Open Source Software (FOSS), a key technology that drives innovation, adds local value and creates sustainable and affordable ICT-solutions.

One participant said "To the software developers, the workshop proved to us how we could improve on our skills by participating in FLOSS communities, it exposed freedom to manipulate the existing code or customizing the open source software applications" .  Nganda Ivan Kudo, Consultant at NIG-Solutions ltd

So exciting was the closing day of this workshop to the extent of attracting a media house which spent the last hours interviewing participants on what lessons they have learnt and how they will implement or intergrate FLOSS technolgies into their businesses.
